1Who we areThe people behind the lamp
Frost Burrow Games is a small independent studio that makes cozy life-sim and exploration games for PC and Nintendo Switch. Our games are Snowmelt Inn, Underfrost and Woolgather.
When this policy says “we”, “us” or “our”, it means Frost Burrow Games. We are responsible for the information described here. If you have a question about privacy, or want to use any of your rights, write to [email protected]. A real person on the team reads every message.
2On this websitefrostburrowgames.com
This website is a handful of static pages. There are no accounts, no comment boxes, no advertising and no analytics or tracking scripts, and we don’t set cookies.
- Server logs. Like almost every website, the server that delivers these pages records basic technical details of each request: your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for and the time. We use these only to keep the site running and secure.
- Fonts. Our typefaces load from Google Fonts. When your browser fetches them, Google receives your IP address and browser details, as it would for any website using Google Fonts. Google’s own privacy policy covers that.
- Email links. The “Say hello” and newsletter buttons simply open your own email app. Nothing is sent until you press send yourself.
3Inside our gamesGame by game, honestly
None of our games has its own account system, in-game ads or loot boxes. Your save files are stored on your own PC or Switch.
Underfrost crash reports and feedback
If you turn on crash reports, Underfrost sends us a technical report when the game crashes: the game version, your operating system, basic hardware details (such as graphics card and memory) and the error log. It doesn’t include your name or your store account.
If you use the feedback button, we receive whatever you type, the same technical details, and a copy of your save file only if you tick the box to attach it. You can turn crash reports off again at any time in Settings.
Store platforms
When you buy or play through Steam or on Nintendo Switch, that platform handles your purchase, your platform account, achievements and any cloud saves it offers. Those platforms have their own privacy policies. They may share limited information with us, such as sales numbers or overall statistics, but not your payment details.
4Letters, emails and playtestsWhen you write to us
- The Burrow Letter. If you ask to join our newsletter, we keep your email address on our mailing list and use it only to send the letter. Every letter tells you how to leave the list, or you can just reply and ask.
- Emails. When you write to us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you tell us. We use it to reply.
- Playtests. If you sign up to playtest Woolgather or a new Underfrost update, we keep your email address, the platform you play on and the feedback you send. We use this only to run that playtest and improve the game.
5How we use itShort list, on purpose
We use the information described above to:
- answer your messages and support requests;
- send the Burrow Letter to people who asked for it;
- run playtests and read the feedback;
- find and fix bugs and crashes;
- keep this website working and safe from abuse;
- meet any legal obligations we have.
We don’t build advertising profiles, we don’t track you across other sites, and we don’t use your information to target you with anything.
6Who else sees itSharing, and the thing we never do
We do not sell your personal data, and we don’t rent it, trade it or give it to advertisers.
We share information only when we need to:
- with service providers that help us run the studio, such as our website host, our email provider and the service that receives crash reports. They may handle data only to provide that service to us;
- with store platforms, as described in drawer 3, when you use their services;
- if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our players, our team or others.
If Frost Burrow Games were ever merged with or taken over by another company, this policy would continue to apply to information collected under it.
7Younger playersChildren’s privacy
Our games are gentle and many families play them together. Even so, we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age set by the law where they live). Our games don’t ask for names, ages or contact details, and children shouldn’t sign up for the newsletter or playtests without a parent or guardian.
If you think a child has sent us personal information, please email [email protected] and we’ll delete it.
8How long we keep thingsData retention
- Server logs: a short time, usually a few weeks, unless we need them longer to look into a security problem.
- Crash reports and feedback: until the bug is fixed and the report is no longer useful, and no longer than two years.
- Burrow Letter addresses: until you leave the list.
- Emails: for as long as the conversation is useful. We clear out old messages regularly.
- Playtest details: until the playtest ends and we’ve read the feedback, unless you ask to be invited to future playtests.
9Your rightsAccess, correction, deletion
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct anything that’s wrong;
- delete your information;
- stop using it for a particular purpose, such as the newsletter.
Email [email protected] from the address you used with us. We’ll answer within 30 days, and it won’t cost you anything. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
For information held by Steam or Nintendo, please contact them directly. They control those accounts, not us.
10Changes to this policyWhen the seasons turn
We’ll update this page when our games or the way we handle information change, for example when Woolgather launches or Underfrost leaves Early Access. The “Last updated” date at the top always shows the current version. If a change is significant, we’ll also mention it in the Burrow Letter.
Still have a question?
Write to us at [email protected]. We’ll leave the lamp on.
